Erlang Capacity Analysis of Multi-access Systems Supporting Voice and Data Services

چکیده
In this paper, we analyze and compare the Erlang capacity of multi-access systems supporting several different radio access technologies according to two different operation methods: separate and common operation methods. In the common operation, any terminal can connect to any sub-system while each terminal in the separate operation only can connect to its designated sub-system. In a numerical example with GSM/EDGE-like and WCDMA-like sub-systems, it is shown that we can get up to 60% Erlang capacity improvement through the common operation method when using a near optimum so-called service-based user assignment scheme. Even with the worst-case assignment scheme, we can still get about 15% capacity improvement over the separate op-

Performance analysis of voice/data cellular CDMA with SIR-based admission control
In this paper, we analyze the performance of a signal-to-interference ratio (SIR)-based admission control strategy on the uplink in cellular code-division multiple-access (CDMA) systems with voice and data traffic. Most studies in the current literature to estimate CDMA system capacity with both voice and data traffic do not take into account admission control based on SIR constraints. Here, we...
متن کاملMulti-Level Access Priority Channel Allocation with Time Threshold in Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) Networks
The focus of this work is on how the congestion experienced on the GSM network can be minimized. The voice calls is broken into sub-classes of services and a level of priority is established among the classes so that the most urgent and important service will have access to the channel by preempting the lower priority services during congestion. The voice communications over the GSM network usi...
متن کاملEnhanced Capacity Analysis in WCDMA System
The wide-band code division multiple access (WCDMA) based third generation wireless communication systems are designed to meet the increasing demands for high data rate applications and greater mobility. High data rate applications include voice, video telephony, Video streaming, File Transfer protocol (FTP), high quality image and wireless full internet access. WCDMA systems are expected to of...
متن کاملAllocation of multiple services in multi-access wireless systems
This paper discusses principles for allocating multiple services onto different sub-systems in multi-access wireless systems. Favorable near-optimum sub-system service allocations that maximize combined multi-service capacity are derived through simple optimization procedures. These favorable service allocations are either characterized by that the relative resource cost for supporting services...
متن کاملDual Degree Dissertation Efficient Media Access Control (MAC) Layer Design for Multi-Class CDMA Networks
Heterogeneity of telecommunications platform and customization of multimedia services are two predominant features of the third generation wireless cellular networks. In such a scenario, where the access requirements of multimedia customers and network conditions change from session to session, the existence of fair and efficient algorithms for admission control and scheduling which exploit the...
